Dr. John Silvaroli

Champagne Family Dentistry South Meadows, Reno

Dr. John Silvaroli was born and raised in Buffalo, NY and landed in Reno, NV just before high school. He is a Galena High School graduate and went on to study mechanical engineering at the University of Nevada, Reno. From there, he was given the opportunity to work for the General Motors Corporation for nearly three years. After working at GM, he returned to UNR to complete a bachelor’s of science in biology. While there, he taught anatomy and physiology labs and served as the lead dissectionist for the undergraduate anatomy program.

Dr. Silvaroli graduated Cum Laude from the UNLV School of Dental Medicine and was in the top three of his class. He was awarded the Board of Regents Scholarship as well as the Leta M. Orr Scholarship. He was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society and was awarded the OKU William S. Kramer Award of Excellence. While he was studying at the UNLV School of dental Medicine, he took the opportunity to perform oral cancer research. He was honored to have his research on the correlation between folate and oral cancer prevalence and proliferation published in an International Cancer Journal and was also invited to be a platform speaker at the International Association of Dental Research Conference in Seoul, South Korea.

Additionally, while at UNLV School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Silvaroli was the president of the SGT Ferrin Memorial Veterans Clinic, which provides dental work for at-need U.S. military veterans from the Las Vegas community.

While finishing up at UNLV School of Dental Medicine, he received an Affiliate Associate Fellowship through the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. This provided over 300 hours in additional implant training, treatment planning, and surgical approaches.

Since graduating, Dr. Silvaroli is happy to call Northern Nevada home. He is an active member of the Nevada Dental Association, the Northern Nevada Dental Society, the local chapter of the Academy of General Dentistry, and local Spear Education Study Clubs.

Dr. Silvaroli truly believes that dentistry marries the natural sciences and engineering with artistry, all with a humanistic approach. “It is for these reasons that I chose to pursue a career in dentistry.”

He enjoys the outdoors and being active. In his free time he likes to spend time with his wife and two dogs, go to the gym, snowboard, hike, fish, and hunt. Fun fact: His birthday is on Christmas day.

Dental Hygenists


Julie Thomsen, RDH

Julie has an associates degree of applied science for dental assisting and dental hygiene. She attended the Truckee Meadows Community College dental assistant program from 2005-2006, and studied dental hygiene at Apollo College in Boise, Idaho, from 2007-2009.

Julie has been working in the dental field since she was 16 years old, when she began on-the-job-training as a dental assistant. She has more than 20 years of experience in the dentistry field.

Outside of work, she likes to go hunting with her husband, spend quality time with her daughter, exercise, go camping, and learn to speak Euskara (Basque language). Fun fact: When she was 10 years old, she participated in a “Take Your Child to Work” day and that was the day she discovered her love for dentistry. “I followed my dream and now I am working in my dream job!”


Anahi Bagan, RDH

Anahi has an associate’s of science degree in dental hygiene from Truckee Meadows Community College. She attended the University of Nevada, Reno for her undergraduate degree in biology. She graduated from dental hygiene school in 2010, and was a clinical instructor in the dental hygiene program at Truckee Meadows Community College from 2013-2016.

As a student, she enjoyed science and health and knew she wanted a career in healthcare. She also worked as a dental hygiene assistant at the dental office of a friend’s family for a year in Louisville, Kentucky, and she loved the environment.
During her free time, she enjoys reading, pilates, taking her beagles for walks, and spending time with her family. Fun fact: Anahi lived in Australia for five years and in Africa for one year.


Amy Stagner, RDH

Amy Stagner has been in the dental field for more than 15 years. She started as a pediatric dental assistant and worked her way up to clinical supervisor before going to hygiene school. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in biology from UNR in 2008, graduated from Truckee Meadows Community College’s dental hygiene program in May 2017, and has an associates degree in science and hygiene from TMCC.

“I have always enjoyed working in the dental field. I started at a pediatric office, so it was rewarding to make an impact on kids and show them that their dental health was important and could be a positive thing. Now working with the general population has made me realize that adults are seeking that same experience. I truly enjoy being able to education patients and make their dental experience positive.”

Amy’s hobbies and side job include making cakes and decorated sugar cookies. “This is a self-taught hobby that keeps me busy. I have two daughters who are active in swim and gymnastics so that is where all of my free time goes.”


Emily Mendonca, RDH

Emily attended Carrington College in Boise, Idaho, where she received her associates degree. She is a member of the Northern Nevada Dental Hygienist Association.

She decided to work in dentistry because she spent a lot of time in the dental office as a child and the staff was always able to make her feel comfortable. Since then, she knew dentistry was what she wanted to pursue. “I love being able to help people improve their oral health and accomplish their goals, and make them feel comfortable in the dental chair.”

Emily’s hobbies include camping with family at Eagle Lake during the summer, boating and hiking. She loves going to concerts and traveling as often as she can. Fun fact: She’s the tallest member of her family!


Kristin Pristavec, RDH

Kristin has an Associates of Dental Hygiene and a Bachelor’s of Science in Communications. She has worked as a clinical Registered Dental Hygienist for ten years. She is a member of the American Dental Hygienists Association and the Academy of Laser Dentistry, and has served on the Northern Nevada Dental Hygienists Association Board of Trustees since 2014. She has also volunteered to provide free dental services to patients in Mexico.

She decided to work in dentistry because she likes caring for people and helping them to have happy, healthy, confident smiles.

Her hobbies include anything involving the outdoors, scuba diving, hiking, and being with her family, friends and dogs.

Dental Assistants


Deborah Ramos

Deborah is a certified dental assistant with more than six years of experience in dentistry. She wanted to work in the dentistry field after having great experiences at the dentist when she was younger.

Deborah’s hobbies are crafting, boating, UTV riding, and spending as much time with her family as possible. Fun fact: “I went skydiving out of the first plane I had EVER been on.”


Dr. Jason Champagne, DDS

CEO

Dr. Jason Champagne obtained his doctor of dental surgery degree from the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni, School of Dentistry in 2001. He graduated from Oregon State University in 1998.

He is a member of the American Dental Association, Nevada Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, the Spear Study Club, and the Northern Nevada Dental Society, of which he formerly served as president, vice-president and secretary/treasurer. He is a board of directors member of the Boys and Girls Club of the Truckee Meadows and is also a fellow in the American College of Dentists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Dr. Jason is also a current board member on the Nevada State Board of Dental Examiners, serving his third term.

Dr. Jason actively provides volunteer dental services through the Northern Nevada Dental Health Program. Also, for the past few years, Champagne Family Dentistry has hosted the annual Give Kids A Smile Event for Northern Nevada. This amazing day provides free dental services to kids of the Boys and Girls Club and our community.

His hobbies include skiing, golfing, playing guitar, and spending time with family. Fun fact: Dr. Jason loves Karaoke and he considers himself a pretty good Neil Diamond impersonator!
