An “Odyssey” is defined as “a long wandering, marked usually by many changes of fortune.”

Champagne Family Dentistry had a great time running in the 10th Annual Reno-Tahoe Odyssey last weekend! Team Champagne, which was sponsored by Dr. Jason and Dr. Drew, started the 178 mile relay race at 9:00am on Friday May 30th and finished on Saturday around 1:00pm! Our team ended up placing 159th out of 246 teams, and our experience was one for the books!

What is the Reno-Tahoe Odyssey?

The RTO is a relay run spanning 178 miles, which is usually run by a team of 12. Team Champagne consisted of 12 runners (5 of which were from our dental office), each running a total of 3 legs. The course started out in Downtown Reno at Wingfield Park, passed through the beautiful Northern Nevada Mountains, and circled back through the Northern Nevada high desert where the course finished up at Idlewild Park in Downtown Reno.

Why did we participate?

The RTO is the ultimate test of strength—both mental and physical, and embodies many of the teamwork principles our office has always prided itself on. Our goal with the Reno-Tahoe Odyssey this year was to have fun, support our team, and take part in an event which not only benefits those running but those in our community. The RTO is a generous contributor to a charity we hold very close to our hearts—The Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation. In addition, the race also supports the Tahoe Pyramid Bikeway, which has created amazing trails for the people of Northern Nevada.

How can you get involved?

Team Champagne will be running in the RTO again next year, which will be taking place on May 29-30, 2015. If you’d like to join our team, send us an email at info@champagnedental.com. If you’d like to register for another team, visit the RTO website here!
