Champagne Family Dentistry had a great time helping Stead Elementary School collect shoes for their Think Kindness Shoe Challenge, which provides people of Kenya with shoes (and an unlimited supply of Kindness)! Our team helped collect 75 pairs of shoes, which contributed to Stead Elementary School’s grand total of 2,440 pairs! What an amazing number of lives that will be changed thanks to this wonderful school!

This was Stead Elementary School’s first time taking part in a Think Kindness Challenge, which consisted of two parts taking place over 15 days:

1. Collect 1,000 pairs of shoes

2. Complete 5,000 acts of kindness (these could be anything from helping mom with the dishes to seeing complete strangers perform Kind deeds)

Did they meet the challenge? They sure did! In fact, they knocked it out of the ballpark and are in the running for the proud title of “Kindest Elementary School in America.” All acts of kindness seen or performed by the kids at Stead Elementary School were written down on paper and turned into “Kindness Links,” which built a Kindness Chain over 2,000 ft long! Stead Elementary School’s Kindness Chain wrapped around their outside track two times!

What is Think Kindness?

“Think Kindness inspires measurable acts of Kindness in schools and communities around the world. They believe that each act of Kindness, no matter how small, has an unforeseeable ripple effect that makes the world a better place. Every person on this planet can think of at least one Kind act that made their day a little brighter. It is Think Kindness’ mission to inspire Kind acts and to gather thousands of people to perform seemingly simple acts of Kindness in solidarity that will result in a wave of good that will make a difference in the world.”

Think Kindness launched Stead Elementary School’s challenge with an amazing motivational assembly that taught the kids “the three most important life skills needed to change the world:”

1. Have no fear of being made fun of for doing the right thing.

2. Be committed to being a good person no matter how mean someone may be.

3. Always live your life as if you were the hero of your dreams.
