Christmas is coming! Tis the season of gift giving, and sharing… With a sense of magic in the air, who doesn’t have fond memories of listening to Christmas carols, enjoying a hot cup of cocoa, taking in the lights and pretty decorations, as well as shopping for friends and family? This is also the time of year that children gain a broader sense of the goodwill while relishing the “magical” feeling only this holiday brings.
To kick off the season, instead of watching cheezy classics like “Home Alone”, or “Its a Wonderful Life” to get you in the holiday spirit, grab your loved ones and head on down to the Sparks Annual Hometowne Christmas Celebration!
This year the Annual Tree Lighting ceremony will be on Friday, December 5th from 6:30 – 7:00 p.m at the Victorian Square where Mayor Martini will turn on all the glorious tree lights. Enjoy the sounds of carolers while taking part in some wonderful entertainment with surprises afoot!
The next day, on Saturday, December 6th at 1:00 – 3:00 p.m, take part and enjoy the Hometowne Christmas Parade! Keep warm and indulge your inner sweet tooth with free hot chocolate provided by the Living Stones Church. After that, scoop up your the little ones and visit Santa at Santa’s Village at the Schoolhouse where the elves at the Boys and Girls Clubs keep Santa in the “ho-ho-ho” mood. Enjoy some great Christmas shopping at the Hometowne Craft Fair, and get out of the cold at the Heritage Museum and Cultural Center, Victorian and pyramid Highway!
Stay warm, have fun, & enjoy this family friendly event that the community of the Reno-Sparks area so lovingly embraces while taking in the spirit of the holidays in the traditional, hometown way!
