Are you looking for a way to help others during this Christmas season? Connect with the Reno-Sparks community by donating to the Marine Toys for Tots! For 64 years, the Marine Toys for Tots has helped children in need experience the wonderful joy of Christmas.

ABOUT

Toys for Tots was originally begun in 1947 with the purpose of providing children in need gifts on Christmas where their parents could not afford to. It started as a very modest effort by one man inspired by his wife’s attempt at finding a charity to donate a toy to a child in need, and not finding any.

From that first year it has snowballed into one of the most inspiring charities for children out there. The mission of the Toys for Tots Foundation is, “to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.” Their goal is, “to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.” They’ve been successfully doing this now for over half a century now, putting smiles on the faces of children during the holiday season, and filling young hearts with hope.

Representing the Washoe County, the Reno Toys for Tots raised and distributed over 46,600 toys for children last year within our county.  As the holiday season draws near, your local U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Coordinator is gearing up for this year’s Toys for Tots campaign. Since 1947, Marines have been making Christmas wishes come true for children in need.  Last year approximately 10,800 children in the county of Reno received toys through the Toys for Tots program. Unfortunately, the need this year will be greater than the last and the dentists at Champagne Dental are encouraging you to help.

Toys for Tots embodies the true spirit of Christmas. The gift of a shiny new toy – something that most children take for granted – means to a needy child that someone cares, that he/she hasn’t been forgotten that, Christmas hasn’t passed him/her by.
