TODAY WE’RE HIGHLIGHTING ONE OF our amazing dental assistants, Laura! How many of you have met Laura in our practice? Get to know her a little better with some Q&A here on our blog!
Where are you originally from?
“I was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas. And I was raised in Sacramento, California.”
What made you decide that you wanted to become a dental assistant?
“I was in high school and had gone to the dentist, the dentist told me I had a lot of cavities, then asked me if I wanted a job, now that I think about it, he was trying to save me!”
When you started as a dental assistant was there something funny (or embarrassing) that happened? Do you dare tell us that story?
“While visiting an orthodontist office that I had first worked for—he met me and first thing he said was ‘we are going to have to fix Laura’s diastema’. I thought, ‘oh no, what’s a diastema?’ The doctor I was working for said leave her diastema alone, it adds character. For all you wondering…a diastema is a gap between the teeth!”
What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re not at work?
“I love spending time with my family, I have been married for over 30 years, have two wonderful daughters amd am awesome grandson. I also love quilting, sewing, and scrapbooking!”
What do you enjoy most about being a dental assistant?
“The patients and my co-workers. Our doctors are pretty great too!”
We hope you’ve enjoyed getting to know Laura a little better. Here at our practice we feel really fortunate to have her as a member of our awesome team.
