WE RECENTLY ASKED DR. ANTHONY GUILLEN a few questions about his dentistry career. Here are his answers. We thought you’d find it interesting!
How old were you, and what made you decide you wanted to become a dentist?
“I always had an interest in medicine. My classes in undergrad furthered my interest in these areas and I decided my career path would either be a physician or a dentist my sophomore year. I shadowed a few dentists over the course of a year to better understand dentistry. Getting to see firsthand the patient interaction and enjoyment they received on a daily basis allowed me to decide dentistry would be the career of my future.”
Where did you attend school and how long have you been practicing?
“I received my dental degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. I have been practicing for one year at CFD and at my father’s practice in Fallon.”
What advice would you give to a young person considering a career in dentistry?
“GO FOR IT! I am biased about this subject but I believe dentistry is one of the most rewarding careers one can choose. Dentistry is a field that is continually changing and growing. There are many new techniques that arise each year and the potential for growth is unlimited.”
What is the one thing you find most satisfying about being a dentist?
“Our wonderful patients. Getting to know each individual and their stories inspires me on a daily basis. I try to teach my patients about oral healthcare, and they in turn, teach me about themselves and their own life lessons.”
We hope you’ve enjoyed getting to know Dr. Guillen better! And, as always, THANKS for being our valued patients and friends!
